A Tribute to a Great Father!

Parents are said to be
Gods seen here and now!
After parents and teachers only
Come even God almighty!

No temple excels one’s mother
Nor any prayer above one’s father
This is how we were taught
To honor our parents best.

Honoring one’s father is
Atonement for his sins.
Glorifying one’s mother is
Like laying up treasures.

Man leaves his father and mother
And cleaves to his wife.
But still he is always
Their child so tender.

What then about a celibate?
For him they are everything.
They are his strength and comfort
Through their prayers always.

As priests, we witness
Many a deaths
Also conduct
Many a funerals!

But can one ever take the death
Of his parents like that?
Can one ever bury them
Before burying his emotions first?

A mother is most happy to hear:
‘Her son is great indeed.’
A father to hear: ‘What feat
Has he done to beget such a son!’

This great father William P. Graham
Must indeed be a blessed father
To have begotten children
Like Monsignor Bill Graham.

Sufferings forced him
`Leave school for work
Which he completed
At the age of fifty six!

A responsible father always
Reared a sweet family of four kids
Was mother too to his children
After his beloved wife’s death!

Is leaving us today
For the eternal rest
Let us keep him alive
By living his values best!
