18th April 2015:
-
A deliberation with Lalu and James for the proposed meet…
-
Church [Catholic and non-Catholic]– People of God
[Christian and no-Christian]– Kingdom of God:
-
It is
pertinent to note in this context one of Pope Francis’ first uttering: ‘God
is not Catholic!’ That can’t but have certain implications for Catholic
theology too.
-
The basis of
theology is ‘Revelation’ (shruti) and ‘Tradition’ (smriti).
-
Revelation
itself is some kind of theology…
-
Tradition is
being built on the premises of revelation…
-
Theology is not
static, nor can it ever be… (idolatry)
-
When the
‘revealed word’ itself has a context, the more so it should be with
regard to the theologizing… ‘A text out of context is no text!’
-
We need to theologize
in our own context as one can’t simply fit in our situation a theology,
even liturgy, created or evolved elsewhere…
-
Of late we do
have enough ‘theologians’ to assess, assimilate and if necessary
to adapt the revealed word to our situations and make liturgy meaningful and
fruitful in the lives of our people here and now…
-
So far we had
been not yielding, bearing fruits, creative and original…
-
It is time
that we come forward to enrich our church in our specific situations…
-
Some topics
to be pondered over:
-
Do our people
realize that they are the children of God, created in his own image and
likeness…? // ‘…a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own
people…?’ (1Pet 2:9).// Let us enlighten them through education, empower them
through getting united, and enrich them with our own resources…
-
Concerns
inviting our attention…
-
Eucharist –
commercialization…// its preservation and adoration…// Priests’ life and
spirituality…// Holiness and transparency…// Availability, Accountability and
responsibility…// Proclamation of the Word…// Sensitivity to people’s needs…// Being
a good shepherd…// Being prophetical…// the evangelical virtues/vows and the
cost of discipleship…
